Dr. Michel is the Founder of Larkin Health System and Larkin University.
Dr. Michel is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has over twenty five years of experience in medical management.
He graduated from the University Of Miami School of Medicine, achieving a number of recognitions, awards and scholarships. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Summa Cum Laude. He subsequently obtained a Medical Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine achieving membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Society (AOA), the only National Honor Medical Society in the world, in recognition of his outstanding performance in Medical School.
He completed his training in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital (JMH) achieving recognition for outstanding performance by being chosen as Chief Medical Resident/Assistant Professor of Medicine of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In this role he was responsible for management and teaching responsibilities in coordination with the Program Director, supervising and directing all aspects of training for 124 resident physicians.
Dr. Michel Founded Larkin Health System in 1998. He was able to begin a turnaround for what started as a small hospital in South Miami into an integrated healthcare delivery system of teaching hospitals accredited by the Joint Commission with locations in South Miami, Hialeah and Hollywood, Florida. Larkin currently trains a combined 480 residents and fellows in 36 different specialties, 270 of which are in areas of Statewide Supply/Demand Deficit.
He Founded Larkin University in 2013, a 501c3 not-for-profit institution of higher education. Larkin University consists of a College of Biomedical Sciences, which offers a Post-Baccalaureate Masters Degree Program in Biomedical Sciences with specialized tracks in Medicine, Dentistry, Physician Assistant, Pharmacy, Clinical Medical Practice and Research. A College of Pharmacy, which is the first and only College of Pharmacy in Miami-Dade County, which offers a three-year Doctor of Pharmacy program, the only 3 year PharmD program in Florida. A College of Dentistry, which will start its first class in 2027 and a College of Medicine, which will start its first class in 202
Dr. Michel is extensively involved in community activities through active participation in numerous not-for-profit foundations emphasizing access to healthcare services to residents of Florida. He has received multiple recognitions from public, private organizations and community groups for his leadership in developing innovative programs to provide access to health care services to uninsured Floridians.
